Angola's economy has undergone in recent years, a strong influence of the dollar, so it is advisable to bring us dollars especially those of last series. The change should be done always at a bank or at authorized exchange offices; the change made on the street is illegal. Banking hours are as follows: from Monday to Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 15.00 hours. The use of credit cards is rapidly spreading at all major shopping malls and big hotels.

Saúde

Hygienic-sanitary conditions in general do not have European standards and are not comparable to those of neighbouring countries such as Namibia and South Africa, whose standards are much higher. In the outskirts of Luanda, there are numerous overcrowded slums. The water delivered by the plumbing is not drinkable and can only be used for the toilets and for irrigation. The Urban sewer system is non-existent and semiperiferiche areas are open sewers and waste land. The main endemic diseases include cholera, malaria, hepatitis, typhoid, paratyphoid fever, yellow fever, parasitosis, trypanosomiasis, tuberculosis, polio and meningitis. Rabies is a disease widespread in the country; in 2009 many cases were registered, with 65 deaths. In case of need, we recommend that you contact the following hospitals, among the most reliable of Luanda: Sagrada Esperanca Clinic-(Emergency Service 24 hours on 24) Rua Mortala Mohamed, Ilha de Luanda, Luanda Tel: + 244-222-309034/309204/309688/309360 Fax: + 244-222-309033 Cell: + 244-9-501348/9 -Military hospital Rua D. Manuel I, Sagrada Familia, Luanda Tel: + 244-222-322315 Fax: + 244-222-325967 E-mail: hosmilp@netangola.com -Clinic "Girassol" Avenida Revolucion de Kifangondo, Otubro Martiri di Mucipio da Maianga, Luanda Phone: 266 6984400 Website: www.clinicagirassol.co.ao Warnings We recommend that you: adopt stringent hygiene precautions, in particular with regard to food; drink only bottled drinks (controlling the closure), without adding ice; consume well-cooked food; carefully wash fruits and vegetables.

Telefonia

There is a landline Angola Telecom which is public and two mobile phone networks, a public (Movicel) and another private (Unitel) covering the main provincial capitals. The system is working "roaming" private mobile network that uses the European system.

Clima

throughout the country there are two seasons: the dry season, called cacimbo (winter, from 15 May to 15 August), cooler, with average temperatures of 23-24° C which can go up to 5-10° C in the inner areas and high plateau; the rainy season (das chuvas, summer), with a concentration of precipitation mainly in two periods, December-January and March-April, characterized by average temperatures of 27-28° c. The average annual temperature in Luanda is 25° c. The coast has an average humidity of 85% and an average annual temperature greater than 23° C; the northern regions are characterized by abundant precipitation and tropical climate, more humid than southern ones, and where there are lower temperatures during the winter months; Highland areas is more dry season with lower temperatures while the Southwest is less humid.

Viabilidade

Licence: the licence of Angola is required (valid for the whole SADC). The Italian driver's license can be used for a maximum period of 30 days. Transport in General: to reach Angola from Italy there is no direct air link. Airlines that link Luanda are Air France (via Paris), British Airways (via London), Lufthansa (Frankfurt), Ethiopian Airlines (Addis Ababa), Brussels Airlines (Brussels), Emirates (via Dubai), South African Airlines (Johannesburg), TAP (Lisbon) and TAAG (Lisbon). Given the vastness of the country, the absence of railway (excluding short routes) and repair works of road infrastructures currently underway, is fairly widespread internal airport network. All provincial capitals have airports, often in very precarious conditions and with a lot of flexibility in hours: sometimes the flights are canceled or delayed even by one or more days. As regards maritime communications, there is only one Italian società di navigazione, GRIMALDI, who travels on Luanda, from Hamburg, via Portugal, without having from the Mediterranean. Other companies (MSC, Delmas) carrying goods from major Italian ports. The rail network of the country is still in a State of decay; However, are planned in the coming years, remedial measures, including a possible use for the purpose of tourism. The only routes now are: Lobito-active; Namibe-Lubango; Luanda-Malanje direction Viana. The road network is rapidly evolving with the restoration of the main interprovincial. Outside the towns there are roads to more than two lanes and only recently built roads carry a road surface of acceptable quality. Service stations, limited to urban areas, are much lower in number than necessary, so much so that often form long queues, even several hours, for bunkering. It is therefore absolutely essential that we have the necessary fuel reserves and some spare wheels before moving out of residential areas. It is always advisable, in case are made trips in the provinces, with more cars. For those wishing to travel by car are advised to follow the route along the Western road axis North-South, from the DRC border with Namibia (Santa Clara): Uige – Caxito – Porto Amboim-Luanda-Sumbe – Benguela – Cacula – Lubango – Cahama – Ondjiva-Santa Clara.
